UNCG battled back to take Furman on Sunday, but Saturday, it was all Furman and freshman Natalie Clemmons, from Northern Guilford HS, was a big reason for the Paladins’ success……(Clemmons with 6 RBI in her last six games….)

Greenville, S.C. – Senior Hannah Bradley tossed a complete-game shutout in game one and freshman Natalie Clemmons(NGHS) drove in four runs on the day, including the decisive hit in game two, as Furman claimed a 3-0, 6-5 doubleheader sweep of UNCG in Southern Conference softball action on Saturday at Pepsi Stadium.
The sweep improved Furman to 12-17 overall and 3-5 in the SoCon while UNCG slipped to 11-21 overall and 3-5 in league play.
Game 1
Bradley scattered five hits and fanned five batters in the series opener and Clemmons went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI as the Paladins downed the Spartans, 3-0.
Clemmons(NGHS), a native of Summerfield, N.C., put the Paladins in front in the bottom of the second with a single to center field to plate Emily Boyer who opened the frame with a double. In the fourth inning, Lauren Collier lined a leadoff single off of the pitcher and Boyer drew a base on balls. After an infield single by Sarah Eidt, Clemmons laced a single past the second baseman to drive in two runs and up the lead to 3-0.
Furman plays a double header against 11th ranked Tennesee today at 5 pm and 7 pm. in Knoxville , TN.
