High Point Christian hangs on to beat Greensboro Day

HIGH POINT- When the road got tough, High Point Christian got tougher.

The Cougars players stepped up to beat Greensboro Day 64-55 in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated.

Diante Baldwin of High Point Christian went down hard with a 5:56 left in the 2nd quarter and did not return to the game. In his place, Joey McLean moved in and made 11-12 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory, finishing with 15 points.

“Joey is one of the best players in the state that nobody knows about”, said Head Coach Brandon Clifford, who went on to say that he played a big role down the stretch. Clifford also said that Baldwin was held out of the game for precautionary reasons.

Jackson Kent of High Point Christian led all scorers with 17 points, JT Terry and Reggie Dillard each finished with 13 points for Greensboro Day.

This loss moves Greensboro Day to 31-3 (7-2) and High Point Christian moves to 22-6 (4-3).

  1. Well well well first off, I would like to say CONGRATS to HPCA for handing out that spanking to GDS. Question of the day for GDS fans was this another “off night” for y’all? Lol I’ll answer that nope y’all just got BEAT. Congrats HPCA!!!

  2. Congrats to HPCA. Glad they were able to hold on and finish one off strong. I’d wager they are one of the best teams in the nation with a 57% conference winning percentage.

  3. A win is a win but the truth is – and they are not using this as an excuse, I just know – the GDS team was sick, at least 5 of them. Congrats to HPC.
