Today’s game was GONE LONG!!!
Final from Game One today at the ACC Baseball Tournament at NewBridge Bank Park in downtown Greensboro…

North Carolina Tar Heels 4
N.C. State Wolfpack 3

The game started at a few minutes after 11am and ended at 3pm and we are talking a four hour game….Long Gone by Skye Bolt from UNC with a solo HR, but as a whole, the game was GONE LONG today at NBBP….Wake Forest takes on Georgia Tech at 3:51pm in Game Two of today’s Opening Round play-in games…

There was a play at the plate that everyone will be talking about until at least ‘first pitch’ on Wednesday, when the N.C. State runner was flying in from third trying to score with one out…

The batter at the plate strikes out and he was trying to put the ball into play some how, some way,(Bunt, fly ball to the outfield, anything or, but the batter strikes out the runner comes home(Trea Turner looking to steal home) from third and it was Trea Turner and slides in and appears to get his hand in for safe at the plate, but the home plate umpire calls him out and that was the third out and boy did the Wolfpack bench with coaches, players and support people erupt and the State fans went ballistic too, but to no avail and the home plate umpire’s call stood…

Later on upstairs, the word from the press area was that they saw the photo of the play and that the N.C. State runners(Trea Turner) was clearly safe…Lots of plays, lots of base runners, lots of men left on base and tons of pitching changes today and both State and Carolina left the bases loaded on more than one occasion today…

Tight game and a well-played game for the most part, but even with that, the game was GONE LONG…..Pitching changes, time being called, this one rolled on and on and in the end, the North Carolina Tar Heels were the victors, 4-3 over the N.C. State Wolfpack and the Pack’s season of 2014 could well be done after this one…We never saw Carlos Rodon take to the hill today, but we saw just about every other pitcher in creation….Rodon was DH’ing for State and reached base a couple of times in the contest…..He drew a walk and reached on an E-6…

Trea Turner(2-4/RBI) with a triple for N.C. State and Skye Bolt with the home run, were some of the highlights in this one….Brett Austin with three singles and an RBI for State as well….Bubby Riley was 1-3 with a two-run single for State….Michael Russell 2-3/RBI for Heels, Parks Jordan with a big double for UNC…Landon Lassiter with a Double for UNC…Wood Myers with an RBI for Heels…

More to come with today’s Box Score on the way….

  1. it`s pretty aparent as to the hatred that state has for unc. I can now see why state continues to rehash the same propaganda with the news and observer as the catalyis for the last 4 years, that is all they have had to cheer for. unc athletic`s have completely destroyed nc state. Not even close.

The state kids aswell as Elliott Avent need to take some anger management courses.

  2. Heels are going to win it all baby.

Tar Heels all the way and tell the State fan or fans if there just happens to be more than one and I don’t think so. Tell them to get on back to hog farm down in Smithfield and do what they do best, farming and raising hogs.

Leave the baseball to the best. The North Carolina Tar Heels. We own Greensboro and we own N.C. State.

Wolfpack Fan or Fans. It is time for you to get back on the job down on the farm and leave the baseball playing to the rest us who have all the athletic talent.

FFA for the Wolfpack and no NCAA for N.C. State.

  3. Go to hell Carolina! You should hang a banner for the greatest academic fraud for athletics in NCAA history.

  4. Easy son, you Wolfpackers still have all of that Jesse Jones sausage to fall back on.

  5. Congratulations Jonathon! Great to see you do well, especially in your hometown. We should be celebrating our local successes more.

  6. Turner is clearly safe at home plate….umpire made it about him…..some of those guys live to bang you on a close one….however, this wasn’t even in the same vicinity of being in the same county as being a close play…..Kudos to Coach Hart at NC State….home plate ump DESERVES everything he gets….yes he deserves it! Wear it….own it….man up when someone comes at you and calls you out…be a man and admit you missed it brotha…..not even close!!!!

  7. Turner was OUT! He was out of line. He should have never acted like he did. Out of Line!

  8. We are still the better team. We didn’t even use our best pitcher yesterday and we still tied them at 4-4.

Carolina had to use their entire pitching staff and we still tied the Heels.

N.C. State is better than all of this junk and we are still and always will be better than North Carolina.

If Carlos Rodon would have started on Tuesday we would have been talking about N.C. State going against Florida State tonight at 7.

  9. Class of 90. No if in baseball only wins and losses Learned the basics of the game no ties either and grow up

  10. state lost they are out of the tournament. you guys need to stop crying and have a nice ride home back to raleigh

  11. you S*** U functions out of raleigh.

Always someone`s fault isn`t it. Heck blame on Swofford also.

  12. The Fox TV folks showed the replay of the play at the plate and the runner was out. TV clearly showed UNC catcher had the plate blocked with his leg and he has tagged without touching the plate with his hand.

  13. Sounds like a a bunch of winesaps and whinesapps around here.

The man was SAFE at home, but the Heels were declared the winners of the game.

State must go home and stay home. Their season is over and for the Heels, let the Good Times Roll. We deserve it bud.
