Western Guilford Baseball Report 3/3/16

The Western Guilford JV baseball team broke a 29-game losing streak tonight against Ragsdale with a 5-3 win. This is the first win under new head coach Enad Haddad, and the first win after the program went winless the past two seasons. The JV team is now (1-1) on the year.

In the varsity game, the Hornets weren’t as successful as they fell to (0-2) on the season under first-year head coach Matthew Wood.

(WG) Lucas Olszewski: 2 1B

(WG) Troy Flippin: 2 1B, SB

(WG) Josh Mobley: 1B, RBI

Although it was a cold, nasty night, the teams got a full game in. A good outing by Western Freshman Clay Dilday on the mound. He didn’t get the run support or the defense behind him to get the victory in his first high school pitching outing. Ragsdale played errorless defense and backed up Perez at the plate as well.

The Hornets will be back in action Friday, 3/4 with a double header against Bartlett Yancey High School, with the JV team starting at 4:30, followed by the varsity game at 7.

  1. Those are the errors that I counted.I was in the press box and was being unbiased. Their book might have a few less than mine, but those were the ones I counted.

The big story is the JV team getting their first victory in 29 games.
