SORRENTO, Fla. – The Elon University women’s golf team finds itself in a four-way tie for second and has two individuals in the top-five after the first round of the MSU Citrus Challenge, hosted by Morehead State University, on Sunday, March 20, at the RedTail Golf Club.
The Phoenix finished the first round shooting a 6-over par, 294-stroke total, and is in a four-way tie for second with Ball State, Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast. Jacksonville State is in first place by two stokes at four-over par (292) after day one.
Heather Munro finished the first round at 2-under (70) and is in a three-way tie for second individually. She trails the leader Valentina Giraldo (-7) of Jacksonville by five strokes. Kelsey Badmaev also is in the top-five individually as her even-par (72) round is in a tie for fifth.
HIGHLIGHTS
In addition to Munro and Badmaev, Aurelia Hamm finished two-over par (74) after the first round of action competing as an individual and is just one stroke off the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.
Sunna Vidisdottir is also within striking distance and is two strokes away from the top-10 individuals after finishing the first round with a 75 (+3) stroke total. Also for Elon, Marah Penn carded a first round total of 77 (+5) and Emily Brooks returned to the club house with a 78 (+6) day one score.

Elon continues play at the MSU Citrus Challenge tomorrow and will conclude the tournament with the final round on Tuesday. The Phoenix will tee off starting at 10:18 a.m., which includes Hamm in Group 14.
