Fuss posts top-15 finish to lead HPU women’s golf in Hilton Head

• Danielle Fuss finished in 13th place with 36-hole total of 154 (79-75)
• The Panthers will continue their spring tour at the Bearcats Spring Classic in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
• The Purple & White shot a two round-combined score of 650 (328-322) to finish in 15th place

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Danielle Fuss, a junior, shot a strong three-over par 75 in second round action to lead the High Point University women’s golf team on the final day at the Low Country Intercollegiate Sunday.

Playing the River Course, Fuss improved her round one score by four strokes to finish the intercollegiate in 13th (79-75,+3), an improvement of 22 spots from round one to round two. The Rochester, N.Y., native recorded 22 pars and three birdies over her 36 holes.

Fuss’ strong play helped the Panthers shoot a two round-combined score of 650 (328-322).

Senior Tan Cheeranont carded a second round score of 79 to finish up play in 39th place (80-79-159). Cayla Smith, a sophomore, finished her 36-hole tour with a score of 168 (83-85) to finish 76th. Freshman Landrie Grace posted a 36-hole total of 178 (86-92) to finish 88th. Sandrine Yesilian improved 13 strokes in her second round of play (83) to finish the intercollegiate in 89th place.

Bethune-Cookman clinched the tournament title by recording a two round score of 611 (304-307). Chattanooga (614), Gardner-Webb (617), Appalachian State (619), and William & Mary (620) rounded off the top-5.

The squad will continue its spring tour this upcoming weekend (March 25-27) at the Bearcats Spring Classic in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
