  1. @NWVikes – My son grew up playing with several of the Ragsdale players and they graduated several seniors last year. Also, Kip Brandenburg transferred to Southern Guilford and I think some of their Seniors this year decided not to play. In my opinion, I think Ragsdale is a young team the developing stage.

  2. Tigers are very young. Have played relatively close games with good NW, SE, and Randleman teams. In two years expect them to be really good.

  3. Tiger Nation/ Coach

I have 2 boys playing at NW for the past 6 years which both have played with Ragsdale players on Showcase teams. Brandenburg leaving as a senior and other seniors quitting last week raises a lot of questions.
The Tiger players I’ve gotten to know are very good players and have wonderful character.

  4. I know nothing of the specifics of the situation at Ragsdale, but also heard that 4 seniors decided not to play. If I recall correctly, something similar happened last year at HP Central; 4 or 5 kids deciding not to play in their senior year.

I’m just sitting here wondering how much time and money the parents of those 8-9 kids invested in travel baseball as they were growing up.

Hope this is not taken to be a commentary on whether or not these kids did the right thing, or what led to them making their decisions. I have no clue. I’m thinking more about where things are these days with youth baseball, and how much time and money is spent by so many, when the odds of a kid playing even through high school are so small.

  5. I was surprised the Welch kid from Ragsdale didn’t pitch Tuesday? They must be saving him for tonight. I believe he won 5-6 games last year and has to be their number 1.

  6. you can’t pitch if you aren’t on the team…

  7. Hey Dave maybe you need to address what is going on. Perhaps you should go up to Ragsdale and look them in the face and ask what is going on. You obviously know. Dont make blanket statements about a program if you dont know. You make statements like that and it undermines Coach Maness and Mr. Gibsons ability to handle their jobs.

  8. Dave is correct. Some either don’t know or don’t want to admit it. There several things going on. No youth feeder program, youth, seniors not playing, transfers almost every year, among other things. The questions are why and what can be done?
