COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The High Point University baseball team clinched its weekend series at Maryland with a 4-3 win over the Terrapins on Sunday afternoon in College Park, Md. Junior Drew Fopeano delivered the game-winning hit in the seventh, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs.

“This was high-level baseball today,” head coach Craig Cozart said. “I am really proud of the way our guys reacted coming off yesterday. We were opportunistic offensively and Drew Fopeano came through with the game-winning RBI.Tyler Britton was fantastic out of the pen, throwing 4-1/3 no-hit innings. I am really happy that we found a way to win a series on the road which is always difficult.”

Down 3-2 in the seventh, Fopeano put High Point back in front for good with a two-run double. The Panthers put two on as Greene singled and sophomore Austen Zente reached on a fielder’s choice. Fopeano then hit a hard shot off the wall in right scoring Greene from second and Zente all the way from first.

The series win is High Point’s sixth in a row as the Panthers improve to 20-8 in 2016. It is the fastest that HPU has reached 20 wins in the Div. I era (2000-present). Maryland drops back to .500 at 14-14 overall.
