Elon Ends Day at JDL College Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Lauren Brzozowski’s victory in the 200-meters highlighted the day for the Elon University women’s track and field team at the JDL College Team Challenge on Thursday evening, Feb. 9, inside the JDL Fast Track Complex.

Brzozowski ran a time 25.53 in the 200-meters while Desiree Ross was fourth in the race with her time of 25.91. Brzozowski was also the Phoenix’s top finisher in the 60-meters with a time of 7.98. In the 60-meter hurdles, Emily Dixon was the runner-up with her time of 8.95 while Melody Burke was also the runner-up in the high jump with a 5’ 1” (1.55m).

In the pole vault, Ellie Bennett and Nicole Karabas both tied for second at the cleared height of 3.40m with Bennett needing fewer attempts to clear her height. Carrie Abraham had a leap of 11.14m in the triple jump while Burke was in the top-five at 10.70m.

Briana O’Grady was fourth in the weight throw with her mark of 15.55m while Bryanna Hames joined her in the top-10 with a heave of 14.49m. Corey Weiss was fifth in the one-mile with her time of 5:10.64.

Elon continues its split weekend tomorrow, Feb. 10, at the Liberty Invitational.
