College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 21, Va. Wesleyan 11

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Madison Iandoli scored a game- and career-high seven goals and eight points in Guilford College’s 21-11 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse victory at Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday. Teammate Demming Carlow added a season-best eight points on four goals and four assists as the Quakers (6-6, 3-1 ODAC) won for the fifth time in six games.

Carlow had two goals and three assists during a stretch of seven straight Guilford scores spanning the two halves. The Marlins’ Liza Holford netted a free-position goal 11:04 before intermission to get the Marlins (1-11, 0-5 ODAC) to within 5-4 before Guilford reeled off five unanswered tallies prior to halftime. Carlow opened the second-half scoring 69 seconds into the frame and Iandoli capped the run with an unassisted tally 14 seconds later, which opened a 12-4 Guilford lead.

Virginia Wesleyan scored four of the next five goals to draw within 13-8, but the Quakers responded with three straight, including free-position scores by Summer Fowler and Holly Kozak. The Marlins got back to within 17-11 with 3:42 left, but Guilford scored four unanswered within a 59-second span to finish the game.

Fowler and Kozak both added three goals as the Quakers matched the sixth-highest single-game goals total in school history for the third time this year. Amanda Dionne scored twice and picked up a career-high 12 draw controls, the fifth -highest total in Guilford history. Sammi Milbourn registered a season-best 18 saves in goal and led Guilford with four ground balls.

Megan Schallock led Virginia Wesleyan with three goals, one assist and five draw controls. Holford and Jordan Callahan scored twice and Marlins’ goalie Alexis Pulliam made eight saves.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers host league-rival Roanoke College Wednesday (4/12) at 7:00 p.m.
