Final from Wednesday afternoon at First National Bank Field, in beautiful downtown Greensboro….
Greensboro Grasshoppers 19, Winston-Salem Dash 5
WP:Domingo Gonzalez(6-2)
LP:Luke Schilling(0-1)
Grasshoppers(40-50/13-12)/Dash(44-48)
Hoppers' line:19-18-0 Dash' line: 5- 8-1
For the Greensboro Grasshoppers, it was a big day for first baseman Jacob Gonzalez, from Scottsdale, Arizona, who went 4-6 at the plate, with a HR/3 Runs/2 RBI…Mike Jarvis entered the game late, and he came up a Grand Slam home run for the Hoppers…Our Steak n Shake Players of the Game were Gonzalez, Jarvis, and the scoreboard operator Don Tilley, who was also very busy in this high octane offensive attack, that the Grasshoppers were employing on Wednesday afternoon, at FNB Field…Don Tilley had to stay on top of the talley, and it was big one in the home team’s corner of the scoreboard, out there in right field, right where several more home runs were leaving the yard on Wednesday…
Yoyner Fajardo was 3-5 for Greensboro, with 2 runs, and 3 RBI…Dariel Lopez went 2-5/HR/BB/2 Runs/3 RBI…Endy Rodriguez was 1-1/3 BB’s/3 Runs, and he is not seeing anything good to hit these days, it is again like he has become the Unintentional, Intentional walk….Abrahan Gutierrez was 2-4/HR/2 BB/3 Runs/2 RBI…
The Hoppers led early in the game, starting off with a 3-1 lead, at the end of the first inning, and then they added 6 runs in fifth inning, and 10 more in the sixth inning, to put this game out-of-reach, and to place it on ice, on a very HOT day…HOT day on the temperature scale(92 degrees), and a very HOT day at the plate ta boot….Another interesting note, and there were a lot of them on/in this day/game, the Hoppers were given 8 free passes/walks in the contest….
Big Matt Eckelman got the start on the mound for the Hoppers, and worked two innings, before giving way to Domingo Gonzalez(6-2), who went on to earn the win….Big Matt is right at 6-4, and 281 pounds….Good mix of fast balls and changeups/off speed from him…Gonzalez struck out five Dash batters on his way to the victory…Gonzalez worked three innings, and Eckelman worked two….
Tony Womack’s son, Alsander Womack, homered for the Dash, when he connected for a three-run smack, in the sixth inning, off of Greensboro’s Cristian Charle…

Every day, Omega Sports helps friends and neighbors lead active lives.
But growing a greater neighborship in our communities is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that staying active in your life requires certain essentials like reliable footwear.
Sadly, we understand many of our neighbors can’t keep up with their footwear needs.
That’s why 30 years ago, we decided to create Summer Sneaker Trade-In to help our customers help neighbors in need while enjoying savings on us to say thank you.
And even though we host this annual event, that doesn’t mean we haven’t seen thousands of customers happy to bring in their shoes every month for donation.
Each neighborhood store works with a charity or organization to provide donated footwear.
