Week One Winner on the Texas Roadhouse High School Football Picks Contest is Marshall Brown:Like in the days of old with Rich Brenner, Steve Finnegan, and Tim Thiemann, it is time again to Pick ’em and Weep!!!

The Week One winner in our Texas Roadhouse High School Football Picks Contest was Marshall Brown…Also known in some circles and town squares, as “Little” Doug Brown…Well Doug Brown is really going to town, as he only had one incorrect pick, in last week’s contest…

He will receive by mail/USPS, his $15.00 gift card from the Texas Roadhouse, and he is automatically entered in the year-end/season-ending contest, where one lucky winner will receive gift cards totalling $120.00 from the Texas Roadhouse…

That is what you would call $120.00 worth of FREE food from the Texas Roadhouse, and when you add in the Weekly Win of the $15.00 food prize, you could well be talking $135.00 worth of FREE food from our good friends at the Texas Roadhouse…Our prime Texas Roadhouse destination is the location on Battleground Avenue, in Greensboro, where Karen Green and her excellent fellow staff members will welcome in Doug Brown, Bill Black, Jennifer Grey/Gray, Danny Green, Red Skelton III, David or Vida Blue, The owner of Ole Yeller/Yellow, Bobby Brown IV, and even James Brown V…This is the stop, for some great food and a bottle of pop…

Pop the cork on some beef and some pork, and since we are in the Carolinas, not in New York, we can say that Doug, April, and little Lilly Brown, all came here by way of the stork…

And now back to the necessary information at hand…Strike up the band, this is the best high school football picks contest in the land, and be sure to give Marshall Brown, a hand, for being the Week One Winner, and now it is time for him to go get his dinner…

Whether it be saint or sinner, back in the day, this contest was hard to play, but not this way, cause we do it right, OK? Your next chance to win and to play, is just hours away…

We will begin playing Week Two of this contest at around late morning on Wednesday…Stay tuned, it will be back up and running again soon…

It is like this is the age of the racoon, with it being about time for a true harvest moon, and I can still remember where I first saw this contest being orchestrated, and it wasn’t being run by a loon…

They used to do the contest back when I was in college up in Virginia, and the crew running the show back then, back in the mid-to-late 1970’s, was Rich Brenner and Tim Thiemann, and they were on ABC TV 13 WSET, out of Lynchburg, Virginia…Rich was set(SET) the table, and then Tim would be left there with all of the weepers getting on his case, when they lost…Steve Finnegan was also in town, over at WLVA 59AM radio, and those men were quite the entertainers and informers, back in the day…

Every Thursday night on the 6pm sports, Rich would tell everyone to be sure and tune in at 11pm and then Tim would be ready to blow the lid off of the building and your TV set at the same time, as Tim revealed his picks for that week, and encouraged everyone in the audience to bring their picks, written on a White Sheet of notebook paper, down to the TV station on Friday morning…Rich said they had hundreds of viewers racing to get down there to Fort Avenue, on Friday morning…Then Tim would usually mess up, and tell all of the loyalists that would be tuned in there on Friday night, for the high school football scores, that this week’s entry numbers were way down, and for all of those that entered, and especially for those who did not get in, they could pick next time, but for this week, they would just have to, “Pick ’em and Weep” by the toilet seat…

WSET was a solid TV station that was on the way up, and with Rich Brenner at the sports helm, they were starting to be taken very seriously by the all of the members of the local media…But Tim would always bring the good old TV 13 station back down, when he came out with his weakly edition of “Pick ’em and Weep”…

For the sake of all of the good people in Tennessee we don’t have that problem here with our contest…The only problem we have right now, is that we are in NC, and not in Tennessee….

Oh my friends do take it from me, the place to be in 2023 will be Knoxville, Tennessee…Charlie Daniels said, “The South is going to do it Again, and when Nikki Haley gets elected president, it will be just like that guy said on that song that was playing on 98.7 The Point, back in 1998…”Everything’s Gonna Be Alright Rockabye”….

The Texas Roadhouse High School Football Picks Contest is coming in here again real soon, to GreensboroSports.com and be sure to enjoy
(We didn’t even get to the parallel between Bob Dayton, and the old WCOG 1320 “Stick it and Win Contest” from days gone by, but we can visit that one, later on down the road.)
