We will get right on that Saturday Morning Rewind button right away, but first of all, it was sort of crazy leaving out of James B. Dudley High School last night…They blocked things off, where you couldn’t get out of there from Lincoln Street…There was a police car blocking that last part of the Lincoln Street exit, you know where you get to the stoplight, make the left or right, and get on Gate City Blvd.
Well they had that part blocked off last night, and they sent us down a side street, and that side street took us back up toward Gate City Blvd. and when got up toward the end of that street there was a car wreck…The wreck slowed things down even worse, but even with the wreck, when you finally get to the stoplight, that stoplight only goes green, and stays green for say, 20 seconds…That’s right, it is the quickest green-to-red light, that you will ever see…
Boy, that was some slow traffic getting out of Dudley HS last night, with the detour, the wreck, and fastest red light, on the East side of the Gate City…
And they always tell you in pre-briefing, “It is all part of the Journey”, be ready for it and react appropriately…Well I have reacted/responded, and since I have been able to get that off of my chest this morning, and really after a good, but short night/morning’s sleep, I am ready to move on and hit the “Rewind Button”, and the exit events of last night are not really even bothering now on this Saturday…
I just thought it might make for an interesting story to begin our day, and now let’s all do what we really came here to today, HIT IT…The “Rewind Button” is moving forward, and the closest thing Greensboro and Guilford County will get to ‘George Michael’s Sports Machine’, is up and running….HIT IT/ROLL, yall…..
Maybe early Steak n Shake Player of the Week candidates on Offense and Defense from last night…From the Joe Sirera stats at the HSXtra.com…Plenty of offense from Grimsley RB Mitchell Summers….Summers with 19 carries for 247 yards and two touchdowns…We used to watch Summers running for the Grimsley JV team last year, and wondered how his runs would work out/translate when he got to the Varsity team, and the ‘early returns’ do look good…Summers with 129 yards and two TD’s last week, and now 247 yards, and two more TD’s this week…In 2022, #22 for the Grimsley Whirlies is looking pretty darn good…And on defense we can not let go of that defensive effort turned in by the SEG Falcons, on Friday night at Dudley…Aaron Brown, Elijah Davis, Camber Alcorn, Jordan Dollard, Kahleb Mosley, Cam Williams and more…To give up/allow just seven points/one touchdown to the Dudley offense, that is saying a lot right there, for the SEG “D”…
