Friday Night Finish:Talking about leaving one on the field(Never saw one end like this before), and other results from Week Three of the HS Football Season

Dudley and Hillside sure left one out there on the football field on Friday night, and all because a bunch fighters decided to throw a load of punches in the parking lot during the game…The fans from both Dudley and Hillside were all enjoying the game one minute and the next thing you know, the game was over, and we all were being sent home…

The parking lot fights on Friday night, caused an early ending to the Dudley-Durham Hillside football game, and it sure would be a good thing, if they can find some way to finish this game out, at a later date…

Everybody gets left with an empty and unfulfilled feeling after a game ends like this one did…Hillside declared the 15-8 winner…If you are Hillside, you just traveled to an out-of-town(out of Durham) destination, and you can walk away as a winner, even though the football game did not get finished…Leaving the winner, just because some fights broke out, involving people from the other town…Sort of a crazy way to get the victory…The game was never completed, but we will have to go with the current verdict, that has declared Hillside to be the winner of the game…(More on this crazy night below.)

Let’s go over the other games…The best game of the night on paper, video, per game highlights seems to be the Eastern Alamance over Northern Guilford game…EA 41, NG 35…NG looks to be for real, and it will be interesting to see how their run goes, when they hit the Metro 4-A Conference games..

Southwest Guilford rolled over High Point Central and Demetri Morrison had the call of that game for us on GreensboroSports Radio 2…Good job Demetri, getting GreensboroSports Radio 2, up and rolling again…SWG now (2-1), NG is also at (2-1)…Hey, Northwest Guilford is at (2-1) too…NWG posted 50 points last week, and the Vikings nearly hit that magic number of 50 again, by defeating WS Reynolds, 49-6…High Point Andrews is another (2-1) squad, after the Red Raiders got tripped up Thomasville, 38-2…..

Page is now at (1-2) after the Pirates’ loss to Mount Tabor, 29-14…We have all of those (2-1), and (1-2) teams, but who do we have at (3-0)??? Grimsley and Southeast Guilford are (2-0), but we do have a (3-0) team, and that would be, the Northeast Guilford Rams….NEG defeated Morehead, 18-7…NEG Rams now at (3-0), and did anybody really see that one coming????

A quick look at Guilford County Schools/Team, after Week 3 of the High School Football Season…..
NEG(3-0)
Grimsley(2-0)
Southeast Guilford(2-0)
Northern Guilford(2-1)
Northwest Guilford(2-1)
Southwest Guilford(2-1)
High Point Andrews(2-1)
Page(1-2)
Dudley(1-2)
Southern Guilford(1-2)
Smith(0-2)
Eastern Guilford(0-3)
High Point Central(0-3)
Ragsdale(0-3)
Western Guilford(0-3)

Some of those other scores from Friday involving our Guilford County teams….We see Ragsdale lost a heart-breaker to Oak Grove, 21-20…Southern Guilford routed Western Guilford, 24-0…Bishop McGuinness took care of Graham, 25-12, while High Point Christian Academy blasted Grace Christian, 49-6…Eastern Guilford dropped a nail-biter, 28-26 to Western Alamance….

More on that Dudley-Durham Hillside game…..
Game was called and Durham Hillside was declared the 15-8 winner tonight…That may change if there is some sort of appeal to the NCHSAA…

(Dudley with a touchdown and a safety, and they had their PAT kick blocked…Hillside with 2 TD’s, an XPT PAT kick and a two-point pass conversion. Duce Harris with a TD catch and a Two-point conversion grab for Hillside…RJ Baker with a TD grab for Dudley…Logan Wright and others, part of the crew that forced the Hillside safety.)

The Dudley and Hillside football players didn’t have anything to do with the game being called at halftime…

Kids were wired up and fighting in the parking lot..They were not watching the game, they were fighting and probably didn’t even know the score of the game…..

The reports of knives and gun shots were tweeted out by somebody, and from what I was told, that was not true…It was just fights in the parking lot, just outside of the stadium and away from the game…

You can not blame any of this on the Dudley football team, they were taking a knee near midfield, and listening to their coaches…

Coach Steven Davis, his coaching staff, the Dudley AD Coach Lee, and the Dudley principal, they all work hard to keep Dudley up and running right…

This was an isolated incident in the parking lot outside the stadium itself, and it had nothing to do with the football game…

There were police cars everywhere, and the GPD did a good job of covering this situation….They responded in mass, and they got over there quickly…

That was most police cars I have seen at a school, since that reported shooter calling in a false alarm report to General Greene School back last May…And General Greene principal Harris did an excellent job of defusing that problem as well…

Dudley and the GDP kept it safe for the Dudley and Hillside football players, the fans, and the parents from each side, both Dudley and Hillside…

All fans were asked to leave the stadium, and did leave in an orderly fashion…

A bad and unfortunate situation, and just wish Dudley could have maintained that 8-7 lead they had, up until about 20 seconds left in the first half, and then Dudley would have been declared the winner….

They need to find a place in town, where everyone that wants to fight, could do so and settle their differences…

Load up an old bus, so they can fight on the way over there, and then bus them to the Lindley Boxing Center, and let them go at it, with bare knuckles in the ring…Fight till you drop, or find a nice field on the outskirts of town where these parking lot fighters can go and settle their differences and if they want to, beat each others brains out, out and away from the civilized population…

We need some good alternatives to the local parking lot fights…

  1. The fights that happened during the game were inside the stadium. Seemed like it was kids that were there to socialize more than appreciate the game. It also seemed like a lot of really young kids as well. Either way, we made our way out quickly. I heard there may have been more than fighting and I have been in enough of those situations to realize how they turn out. I don’t think the administration was expecting that kind of turnout, but with a lot of area schools off this week it was a perfect storm.

  2. One report saying some of the fighting was behind the home side, but still not among fans out in the stands as some were trying to imply…

  3. It started in the first quarter people got escorted out. Totally nonsense they came to fight. No sense of school pride for themselves until you mentioned Dudley then here comes the up roar but fight amongst each other. The news was being lenient because they were in bathrooms also and all behind Home stands then went to the out side I counted at least 10 incidents. Nothing to do with Hillside all on Dudley. SMH

  4. We are starting to hear the fighting was going on back behind the home stands/bleachers at Dudley, and also in the bathrooms, and then it spread outside to the parking lot…

No fact yet, but just major theory, that it was kids that were doing the fighting, and several of those kids were not from Dudley….I have heard the names of some of the other schools that were supposed to be involved, but without total verification, will not name them…

Makes for a bad situation, and have seen some of the video, but very grainy…WXII TV 12 was the only TV station that I saw still there, when this(the fighting) was all going on….

Really a tough one for Dudley if many of the fighters involved were from other local high schools…They come over to Dudley to start up their fights, and at somebody else’s football game….

From where I was located, all of this was going on behind us, and you could see the GPD cars flowing in, but in the beginning, there was nothing definitive, as to what was going on….

When you see all of the police cars it is usually for purposes of the blue and red lights putting out a signal, that there is trouble around this area, and now steer clear of this area…Puts out a message to those who are here at the scene currently to stay away, and move on elsewhere…

I did have one police officer tell as I was leaving, as I asked what was going on, and he just told me, “Something was going on back there”, and pointed toward the parking lot….

So, it looks trouble behind the home side stands, in the bathrooms, and in the parking lot…It has been determined that there were several fights going on…

We shall have to wait and see if we ever do get the full details, as to what happened and how it all came to be….

We stand by the Dudley Panthers and the Durham Hillside football teams….They were giving us a very good football game on Friday night, and we hate it had to end….I really did want to selfishly see more football, between the Panthers and the Hornets, and I wanted to see a true ending/outcome to that ball game…

If I have carried on too much in this comment, my apologies, but I feel like if you have something to say, and you try and say it the right way, you need to go ahead and get it out, and here it is for you….
