Danny Pigge’s Pigskin/High School Football Preview with our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week

Here we go with another week of High School Football for you….All kickoffs coming at 7:30pm, unless otherwise noted…

Northern Guilford(3-3/1-2) at Northwest Guilford(4-2/2-1)
At the R.L. Billings Stadium, on the NWG campus, where it was Homecoming last week, and this week it is Rivals Week, as the NG Nighthawks roll into the Billings Stadium, to do battle with then NWG Vikings…

Both of these teams are poisonous, as you have NWG featuring the junior Tanner Ballou at quarterback, and he can go upfield to Trent Cloud, Bristol Carter, or to Prince Brown…Mike Godette, Ryan Debow, and Stewart Spagnola are all threats from the backfield as runners…Northern comes at you with their senior QB Jack Mercer, and he can go to Tyler Mosca, Reggie King, and Jaden Hairston, plus Northern loves to go to Vance Bolyard, but he has been out with an injury…Jack Mercer has missed game time due to injuries also, and we all hope he can go TONIGHT…

NG runs the ball with Jaden McInnis…Northern on defense calls on guys like Roman Garofola and Franklin Lewis to be their leaders, while NWG turns to Andrew Dover, Thomas Orrell, Ryan Debow and others to pave the way on “D”…This is anybody’s game going in, but NG needs Jack Mercer to have a great shot to get the victory…Sophomore Alexander Marsh serves as the backup to Jack Mercer…Walter Turner is a very solid lineman for NWG in the trenches…

Grimsley(6-0/3-0) at Ragsdale(1-5/1-2)
Remember, we were just talking about Taylor, Anderson, and Albright, and Grimsley has a four-armed bandit duo of Ryan Stephens and Faizon Brandon to get the ball to the three fellows that are looking to get open for extra yardage for the Whirlies…Grimsley has had no trouble moving the ball this season, and they have found out that when they can’t find Taylor, Anderson, or Albright, that it works out just fine to give the ball to RB’s Mitchell Summers, Ja’Carion Maynard, and Khalil Stimpson…Maynard and Stimpson are seniors, but Summers is just a sophomore, and has several Summers of training remaining at GHS…The Whirlie Defense has been just about as stout as their offense this season, and Bryce Davis has been taking names since back in Mid-August, and he is getting ready to add a group of Ragsdale Tigers to his charts…RHS comes at you with QB Devin Hackstall, RB Fabion Diggs, RB Javonte Ford, and WR Deshawn Cuyler…Hackstall to Cuyler needs to be the hookup that gets the Tigers their stripes…This game at Kenneth Miller Stadium, in Jamestown….Grimsley can’t get caught looking ahead to Southwest Guilford next week…

Southwest Guilford(4-2/2-1) at Southeast Guilford(4-2/1-2)
Hey now, we were just talking about Southwest Guilford, and this encounter between the SWG Cowboys and the SEG Falcons ought to be a very hard fought defensive battle…SWG with Kyler Puckett, Jaylen Carl, and Jeron Milton up front, and LB’s like Hunter Kane and Lawrence Higgs, then DB’s that are setting the tone on the back end, with Corbin Wilson, Darius Hairston and others…Wilson and Cale Lloyd rotate at QB, with Cam McCain, Higgs and more moving the ball on the ground…Bryson Serrano really gets the SEG Falcons going on offense, with Tyshawn Wall, Cam Williams, Kaleb Mosley, and Mark Tillman making the offense move…Aaron Brown, Camber Alcorn, Jordan Dollard, and Cam Williams if healthy are the meat of the SEG Defense…The game-changer might just be the foot of SEG kicker, Aidan Bonde…Bonde could end up winning this game for the SEG Falcons…You can catch this game on GreensboroSports Radio 2 with Demetrious Morrison…Game at Bill Slayton Stadium…

Western Guilford(0-6/0-3) at Page)3-3/2-1)
The Page Pirates may be tempted to keep Jerron Blackwell at QB full-time for the future, since last week he was good for 381 yards of Total Offense, and he ran for 3 TD’s, and passed for another…Page has that strong kicker Tylar Elliot, and the Pirates can come at you hard with Maurice Andrews at RB…If Page can get PJ Thompson back at full strength, it will help Page out on both offense and defense…Parker Maynard will also be looked to, to lead the Pirates to the win…RB Malique Jones and QB Herb McNeal should end up being the workhorses for WG…Game at Marion Kirby Stadium…

Dudley(4-2/3-0) at Northeast Guilford(4-2/1-2)
Dudley with QB Andrew Attmore II going to WR’s Nasir Newkirk and Kordell Bartley may just pave the way for the Dudley Panthers at Bill Bookout Stadium, on the NEG Rams’ campus…At RB for Dudley, Jailen Hicks is back, and RJ Baker is out…LJ Southern is also on board at running back this week…Logan Wright on the defensive line, Kafi Abass at LB, and Shawn Seagraves at DB set the standard for the Dudley “D”….DJ Parker is a kid to watch on both sides of the ball for Dudley….NEG would like to get the ball moving with QB Cam Hatchell to WR Barry Tate…Tate has been looking for at least two TD’s vs. Dudley, but they may be hard to come by…Hearing that Tate is leaning toward the Campbell Camels for college….

Smith(1-5/1-2) at Southern Guilford(4-2/3-0)
We have been saying it, and printing it every week, so why stop now…The trio of QB Jamias Ferere, RB/LB Rydell Herbin, and WR/DB Conner Fields for Southern Guilford has been on target over the last four weeks for the SG Storm, and who’s to say that they won’t be ready to do it again this week…Go with them at C.K. Siler Stadium, and Smith comes in with QB Emmanuel Gilliam and WR CJ Neely, and those two together have been good for close to 500 yards through the air this season…Smith won this game, up at Smith last season, and now it is the Storm’s chance to claim the home victory……

Eastern Guilford(3-3/3-0) at WS Atkins(1-4/0-3)
I think EG can possibly win this game in the 56-0, 49-0, or in 49-7 range, if the ‘Cats get to clicking like they should…QB Tyreik Boyd, RB Jaiden Evans, and WR Steven Murray, and don’t forget Braxton Veiga, Solomon Howell, and Tavion Bullock on defense…EG is starting to play complete team football, and each week, they are getting more and more people involved in the team effort…Boyd with 227 yards and 3 TD passes last week, and the team with 271 yards on the ground…

High Point Central(0-6/0-3) at Rockingham County(2-4/1-2)
HP Central may have an outside shot in this one, and since they are going outside of the county, that makes it even better…QB Corey Crump, and RB Zion McCoy must be right, for the Central Bison to have a chance to win tonight…

West Stokes(3-3/1-2) at High Point Andrews(4-3/1-2)
Still banking heavy on Timothy Ratley Jr. for HP Andrews, and you may be saying that he is the only Red Raiders name I know, as HPA gets ready to play the West Stokes Wildcats tonight, and you might be right…Some names I recognize, and other names I don’t believe when I look on the High Point Andrews page at MaxPreps.com…It shows HP Andrews with 132 players on their roster, including Jahmier Slade and Steven Davis II from last year’s Dudley team…Slade is now the starting QB for Winston-Salem State, and I believe Deuce Davis is at N.C. A&T…You never know till you look it all up…

Bishop McGuinness(1-5) at Pine Lake Prep(6-0) 7pm
I am going to lay off on this one, since I do not know enough about Bishop to pawn off any real great game info on the Villains..But, I do lean toward PL Prep, since they sit at (6-0)……
