VS.
#8 seed Hough
QB Tad Hudson 200-313 for 2,364 yards, with 21 TD’s/7 INT.
Hudson with 47 carries for 94 yards and 5 more TD’s…Hudson a tad bigger than some of the QBs we see, at 6’2/220…..
RB JT Smith with 140 carries for 939 yards and 14 TD’s…35 receptions for 327 yards and 2 TD’s…
RB Jycen Anciso with 25 carries for 175 yards and 2 TD’s…
WR Markell Quick with 51 receptions for 785 yards and 10 TD’s…
WR Jacob Dossey 32 receptions for 452 yards and 2 TD’s…
WR Sequan Osborne with 39 receptions for 379 yards and 3 TD’s…
K Nolan Hauser 53-53 on PAT kicks, plus he is 17-20 on Field Goals this season…104 Points scored by Hauser, and Hauser has tied the state record, with 51 made field goals in his career…
(Hauser is a big threat for Hough, with his foot.)
P Owen Fehr with 32 punts averaging 46 yards per punt this season….
MLB Nick Garrido is the top tackler for the Hough Huskies, with 87 Total Tackles on the season…
**********Two key components in this game are Grimsley’s QB Ryan Stephens, and you look at how many yards he can get on the ground, to go along with what he can get through the air to his receivers…Nolan Hauser, the kicker for Hough, could be a difference-maker in this game…If the Hough defense is tough/stiff, three points could decide this ballgame…**********

3-A West
#23 seed Eastern Guilford
QB Tyreik Boyd 132-216 for 1,798 yards, with 24 TD’s/3 INT….Boyd with 46 carries for 110 yards and 2 TD’s…

WR Steven Murray with 35 receptions for 668 yards and 11 TD’s…
WR Ryan Larkin with 39 receptions for 406 yards and 4 TD’s…
P Brian O’Connell is averaging 30.4 yards per punt, but he has done an excellent job of flipping the field, in recent games…
K Conner Smith is 56-66 on PAT’s and has only attempted one Field Goal this season, and it was unsuccessful..
Top Tackler for Eastern Guilford is LB Tavion Bullock, with 124 tackles, DL Solomon Howell has 116 tackles and LB Braxton Veiga has 97 tackles…
VS.
#11 seed South Point
South Point coming at you with that Triple Option offense, and that unit on offense gave the Dudley Panthers’ defense fits, topping Dudley 74-41…Got to get after the SP QB and the SP RB…They both are very dangerous, and have been very successful at what they do for the SP Red Raiders, this season….
QB Patrick Blee 30-56 for 546 yards with 10 TD’s/4 INT….Patrick Blee with 164 carries for 1,392 yards and 18 more TD’s on the ground…1,938 Total Yard for Patrick Blee this season, and he is only a freshman back there…
RB Cam Medlock with 263 carries for 1,703 yards and 31 TD’s…
RB Dawson Tobin with 46 carries for 297 yards and 3 TD’s…
RB Harrison McKinney with 50 carries for 283 yards and 4 TD’s…
WR Jackson Blee with 12 receptions for 312 yards and 2 TD’s…
WR Aaron Chaney with 14 receptions for 236 yards and 4 TD’s…
K Charlie Birtwhistle good on 61-74 PAT kicks…No field goal attempts this season by Birtwhistle…
P Aiden Ramirez with 19 punts for a 37.6 yard per punt average…
MLB Chaynce Ford with 129 tackles for South Point…
**********The key to the game for South Point and for Eastern Guilford is the South Point QB Patrick Blee…EG must get after Blee, and not allow him to turn the corner and hit the edge clean…EG needs another big game from RB Jaiden Evans, and EG needs to control the ball and the clock…**********
(The old saying on turning the corner goes something like this, Yankee Doodle went to town, a riding on a turtle, turned the corner just in time, to see a ladies girdle. An oldie, but a sort of a goodie…)

#5 Maiden(12-1) at #1 Reidsville(12-1) 7pm

  1. Bias,

his comments about Dudley were related to both Eastern Guilford and South Point. EG played then during the regular season and SP got skunked by Dudley last year in the West 3A regional finals and payed them back two weeks ago. SP also defeated EG in the first round last year 41-31. Aside from the player stats for the two Guilford teams remaining and their opponents. the main focus was about the SP/EG game. As far as NWG goes, they only played Grimsley and not Hough. so are not really a part of the discussion either.

    Yours truly,
Sasha (who lives in Greensboro but is a SP grad)

  2. I don’t see how saying South Point gave Dudley fits is taking shots at Dudley…They did give them fits…The Triple Option is very tough to defend and South Point ran it to near-perfection, that night over at Dudley…It is what it is…

I don’t think there is a true football fan alive who would not like a crack at trying to stop that Triple Option offense…

Porter Ridge came over to Grimsley and wore out the Whirlies with it last year…

If a team had problems with it, that ends up being factual football…If things would have worked out the way local fans were hoping, Dudley would have been hosting Eastern Guilford this Friday night….

Now it is time for Grimsley and Eastern Guilford to carry the banner for Guilford County….

On the Northwest Guilford situation, NWG would have a much better chance at Weddington, if their starting QB would not have broken his wrist, at Watauga…It is what is again…
