High School Football in Guilford County added a whole new chapter to its legacy late last evening, as the Grimsley Whirlies out-lasted the Hough Huskies, with the Greensboro Grimsley bunch winning a “Thriller”, in Triple Overtime, at Bob Jamieson Stadium…I do think Mr. Jamieson would be very proud of how the Whirlies performed and how they persevered to move on to Round Five, and the NCHSAA 4-A West Regional Championship Game…John Madden would have loved this one too…
You have to feel for the Eastern Guilford Wildcats on this Saturday morning after Thanksgiving, after the ‘Cats came up just short, falling 28-25 to South Point, down in Belmont last night…It was a great road run for the “Road Dogs” from Gibsonville, and we congratulate Coach Tony Aguilar and his young men on their outstanding 2022 high school football campaign…
We are more than proud of the way all of our Guilford County teams have battled this season, and now we have one team/school left to carry on our Guilford County Banner…One school will represent Greensboro/Guilford County, and the 336, when the whistle blows again next Friday evening…The Grimsley Whirlies are moving on, and let’s all do all we can, to move on with them…
Now moving to the magic of the Rewind Button, let’s “Hit It”, and get her rolling for this Saturday morning…

More on the way….
Curious on total number of penalties and yardage for grimsley , the flags were flying last night
You had to be at the EG game to know that it literally came down to seconds. The Wildcats never gave up! Such a great season! ??
Some very complimentary comments on the Eastern Guilford Wildcats at the NCPreps.com state-wide 3-A Football Forum…
South Point Red Raiders Fan:
Hats off to EG. They played exactly the type of game that gave them the best shot to win IMO. SP QB Blee didn’t do much on the stat sheet for yards but he did exactly what he had to. EG did a great job of running the ball and controlling the clock as best they could. They stayed balanced and most of the night made sure that running the Qb would have been a losing option.
Busy football stretch of two days for me…
I played in a football game on Thanksgiving Day that went Two Overtimes, and then I was broadcasting the game on Friday night, with Grimsley and Hough, that went Three Overtimes…
Talk about living The Football Life in the OT…
Five Overtimes in two days, that is what you call, a True Football Touchdown/Landing…..
At least four facemask penalties on Grimsley on Friday night, and that is one area that I know they are going to want and clean up…The officials sure took a lot of time sorting things out on Friday night too…For all of the flags that were thrown, at least they picked up a couple of them, and put them back in their pockets…
