Smith High School is a graduate of Smith High School…He was a standout football player at Smith High School under Coach Tony McKee and he ran track for current Smith HS Athletic Director Chris Lassiter…Again, Coach Montis Lash was a standout in Football and Track at Ben L. Smith HS, and now he has come home to coach the Golden Eagles’ football team…
Coach Lash holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech University, in Blacksburg, Virginia and he holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management, and a Masters Degree in Education…
Coach Montis Lash brings with him over eight(8) years coaching experience and has spent as the offensive coordinator at Chambers High School in Charlotte, and the Chambers(Vance) team made it to three straight State Championship Games, and they won two…
He was also the head Track and Field Coach for the men’s and women’s teams…Coach Lash also served as the Athletic Director at Chambers, where he led a program that had the only women’s basketball team, that three-peated as women’s champions in the state of North Carolina…
Coach Montis Lash brings with him a wealth of knowledge in recruiting, social media marketing, and he has a solid plan to bring Ben L. Smith back to prominence, and will make the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles solid competitors….

Interesting hire for Smith HS. Bringing in someone from a program that is currently under investigation and have had major infractions and forfeitures over the last couple of years surrounding their football program specifically. No doubt Lash will invest heavily to try and bring Smith back to glory, but at what cost?
Great hire for Smith. I’m sure he’ll turn things around.
Please and I do mean please get a whole new staff. Can’t change with the same old staff. Coach Streater and Coach Desmond are great with the kids other than that fire everyone.

This a good hire I like it. I am not going to speculate about investigations and wrongdoing etc. Will y’all ask that HS of Josephine Boyd blvd those same questions?? Wonder why not though smdh.
