Not sure how the Southeast Falcons made it in the tournament. After the first round brawl in the conference tournament against us they had 6 players ejected. That automatically disqualifies them for the state playoffs according to the NCHSAA rule book. I guess they can do whatever they want and play with players from whatever county and country they want…
1A women
#32 Bethany @ #1 Mt. Heritage
The Bethany Community School girls have been added to the list…BCS girls ‘are on the clock’….
Page started the brawl and has a reputation for starting basketball drama! Funny that you speak of illegal players since you were penalized JUST for that. Your coaches are poor influences for athletics. Sit and watch on the sidelines, as the Falcons play in the first round.
Dang those are serious allegations of SE players not being in district.
What’s up with the country comment? Not sure you want to go down that route.
Sounds like the new Page A.D. has some work to do.
Good luck to all of the area teams that made it.
Whatever happened in the past, seems to be in the past now, and we are on to Round One of the playoffs…
If something was going to be done, it would/should have begun and been initiated back in the semifinals on Thursday…..
Time now to wish all of our teams the best of luck, as we hit Round One of the playoffs, on Tuesday, and hope we have a good number of teams advancing to Round Two on Thursday…..
How does Northern girls only rate a number 3 seed???
The NCHSAA goes by each team’s RPI Rankings, and Northern had an RPI Ranking of 0.677284..
The Watauga girls had an RPI of 0.691298…
The RPI Ranking for the Lake Norman girls was
0.708377…
Lake Norman #1-0.708377
Watauga #2- 0.691298
Northern Guilford #3-0.677284
The RPI is based on Strength of Schedule, Conference Regular Season Winner/Finish, and the Conference Tournament finish…
Heavy emphasis on Strength of Schedule, and if you look at the NG girls scores, over the teams that they played, there were not many close games…Maybe a game with Alexander Central back early in the season, and there was the team from Raleigh, that came to Northern back in December…Those games were a bit closer, but Alexander Central finished with an overall record of (19-7), and the Raleigh team finished, at (19-8)…
So the strength of Schedule is what can really keep you back just a bit…NG had probably their closest conference game of the season, last Friday night, when they defeated Northwest Guilford, by 15 points….NWG girls finished the season, with a (20-7) season….
It becomes, it is what it is, and the Strength of Schedule can really hold you back….You schedule as many out-of-conference games with tougher teams as you can, but you can only do so much…
Would have loved to see a game with the Northern Guilford girls vs. the Smith girls, and a game with NG girls vs. Bishop McGuinness this past regular season…Would have been a good experience for all of the teams involved…
A little more on the Page-Southeast Guilford boys conversation, and just a passing thought….Lots of talk about all of the new kids on the block at SEG this season on the boys team…
A few years back, Page got a boost when they got Diondre Overton from Southeast Guilford, Jalen Seegars from Southern Guilford, and Jeremy Harris from Northeast Guilford, all in the same year…That gave Page a big talent surge back then, and this happens a lot in Guilford County…You never know whose turn it will be next, to get the new players…
But, with the exception of our playoffs, due up on Tuesday night, we are beginning to turn the page on this season….
What brawl? You can literally go to social media & watch the clip. No SEG player threw a punch. This is nonsense. I am more than willing to send a copy of the game to anyone in doubt. I was standing at behind Page’s bench. I know what was said. Why was one of the Page coaches laughing in the gym instead of addressing the situation with his players.
At other Page games, I’ve watched an AD walk onto the court towards an opposing player and witnessed a Coach curse at an individual that said nothing to him. Both were Page.
Looks like you missed NC Leadership Academy…
1A Men – #21 seed NC Leadership Academy (Kernersville) vs. #12 seed North Stokes
1A Women- #15 seed NC Leadership Academy (Kernersville) vs #18 seed North Stokes
Added Leadership Academy and Cornerstone to our Tuesday master schedule…
Lots of new 1-A schools popping up and getting into the mix…Piedmont Classical is due to in the NCHSAA, I believe next school year…Plenty of them out there…College Prep and Leadership Academy/CPLA, Leadership Academy, Cornerstone, Bethany, Piedmont Classical and more we might be missing…Many new 1-A schools on the block…
