Espinosa-Ponce scores five goals against Eastern Mennonite

Harrisonburg, VA – The Greensboro College Women’s Lacrosse team went out of conference as they traveled north to Virginia to face Eastern Mennonite University on Monday afternoon. While the team would play their best first quarter of the season, the Pride ultimately fell to the Royals, 20-5.

Greensboro got on the board first when Sophomore Rosanna Espinosa-Ponce (Winston-Sale, NC) fired a shot passed the goalie for the early lead, 1-0. EMU would answer but Espinosa-Ponce found the net again to break the tie, once again giving the Pride the advantage. However, the Royals proceeded to score four straight goals to grab the lead, but Greensboro would pull to within one goal after Espinosa-Ponce found the net again two more times. Unfortunately, EMU’s offense came alive and at halftime they would lead, 14-5. After the action started up again, the Royals scored for the 15th time and the Pride would eventually fall to EMU by a final score of 20-5.

Espinosa-Ponce had her best game of the season, scoring all five goals for Greensboro. The Pride will return to action on Friday, April 7th when they travel to Fayetteville, NC to take on Methodist University. Start time is scheduled for 2:00pm.
