Russ Receives Female Student Athlete of the Week Honors
High Point-Thomasville NC— The High Point-Thomasville HiToms, in conjunction with Ilderton Dodge, the High Point Enterprise, and the High Point Rotary Club, are proud to announce the second of six pairs of spring student athlete honorees.

This weeks female recipient of the recognition is Oak Grove High School Senior, Alissa Russ. To earn this weeks honor, Russ displayed her prowess on the mound and at the plate as she struck out 24 batters and hit for .428 batting average.

Russ earned all-conference honors last season playing first base and pitching. She is currently the all-time strikeout leader at Oak Grove and sharpens her leadership skills in the Oak Grove Fellowship of Christian Athletes

“Alissa has been crucial this year as a senior leader,” said Oak Grove Softball Coach Danielle Diluzio. “Her ability to be dominate on the mound as well as at the plate has made her invaluable. She has shown a ton of maturity and confidence in whatever role her team needs.”

Alissa intends to continue her academic and softball career at Lenoir Rhyne this fall.

Rouse Honored as Male Student Athlete of the Week
High Point-Thomasville NC— The High Point-Thomasville HiToms, in conjunction with Ilderton Dodge, the High Point Enterprise, and the High Point Rotary Club, are proud to announce the second of six pairs of spring student athlete honorees.

Cole Rouse, a junior at Wesleyan Christian, shined on the links this past week to earn male student athlete of the week honors. Rouse shot an even par 72 at Grandover East Course to finish in first place in a 4 school event, including local Triad schools in Northwest Guilford and Page High School. Rouse’s low scores helped lead Wesleyan to a team low score of 302 for the event.

With three medalist finishes so far this season and a GPA that’s never been below 4.1, Rouse embodies what it means to be a student athlete.

His passion for golf sprouted at an early age. Rouse competed in the National Drive, Chip, & Putt competition, held at Augusta National each spring, as an eight year old and again at the age of twelve.

Some other career highlights include last year’s win at the Wesleyan Golf Tournament after being in the hospital with a collapsed lung just 2 weeks prior.

Rouse has competed in the North & South Junior Championship on famed Pinehurst #2. He has several top-5 finishes over the past few years in some of the most prestigious North & South Carolina Junior Tournaments such as the Dogwood State Tournament in August of 2021, and the Mimosa Junior Invitational of August 2022 with a score of 6 under.
