FISHKILL, NY – The Greensboro Grasshoppers dropped their season opener 8-1, against the Hudson Valley Renegades on April 7. The Grasshoppers tallied six hits against the Renegades six hits and one error.

Jase Bowen led the Grasshoppers going 3-4 with one double and one RBI. Hudson Head, Maikol Escotto, and Luke Brown also tallied hits for the Grasshoppers with Brown also recording a double.

Starting on the mound for the Grasshoppers was Anthony Solometo, who recorded five strikeouts and gave up two hits, one earned run, and one free base in four innings of work.

Mitchell Miller took the loss for the Grasshoppers allowing one hit, two earned runs, and three free bases. Miller moves to 0-1 on the season.

The Hoppers used five pitchers, Solometo, Miller, Will Kobos, Santiago Flores, and Grant Ford…The pitching staff gave up six Hudson Valley hits, but the Grasshoppers walked nine(9) Renegades…Nine strikeouts by the Hopper pitchers…Again, Solemeto topped that effort, with 5 K’s…

Jace Bowen goes 3-4/Double/RBI…Will Matthiessen scored the only run for the Grasshoppers…Matthiessen drew two walks, while Luke Brown had a double for Greensboro…Spencer Jones with a solo HR and two RBI for the Renegades…Jones goes 2-4, and he had a walk…Renegades with six total hits in the game…Ben Rice and Marcos Cabrera each with 2 RBI for Hudson Valley…

Harold Cortijo recorded the win for the Renegades and moved to 1-0 on the season.
