Page HS PA/Public Address Announcer Dale Holder is hanging up his mic and moving to Charleston, S.C.

Page High School public address announcer/PA man for football Dale Holder, is dropping the mic, and moving to Charleston, South Carolina…

Dale Holder will turn off the microphone, and leave Greensboro, and head down to South Carolina…

Former Page athletic director Rusty Lee brought Dale in to work the Page football and basketball games, several years back, and Dale has maintained his post for probably 15-plus years…He gave up the basketball duties a couple of years back, but had kept right on rolling, calling all of the Page Pirates home football games…

He has been the main man, and one of his best lines, was “Ring ’em if you got ’em”….And that was in reference to the Cow Bells that the Page fans would ring, when it was time to make a big play in the football game…At a key stage in the game, Dale would say to the fans, “Ring ’em if you got ’em”, and the place would go crazy, ringing out a sound that could be heard, almost all the way the over to the Grimsley High School campus…

Dale Holder could not hold out, he saw the need to move down to Charleston, and we wish him the best in this the part of his journey…His daughter used to be a Page cheerleader, and that kid had a jump, that would put Bart Conner to shame…She was like a gymnastics dynamo…That kid could really go…

Good friend Dale Holder going where the weather is much less colder, and he will have a young man available that should be ready to step in and hoist the sails, and carry on, the Microphone…That would be Robert Hogewood…Robert is the Page HS tennis coach, and he has been calling the Page varsity basketball games for the past couple of years…Robert, son of legendary sports announcer Mike Hogewood, should be able to step in for Dale, and raise the sail on the Pirates’ football ship too…

Best of luck to Mr. Dale Holder, and here’s hoping Robert Hogewood will pick up the pigskin….

**********OK, I wrote the post, and then I just went by Twitter, and found this from Mr. Dale Holder himself…I was not totally spot on in my assessments, but did not miss him by much….Some days, it is better to be lucky, than good…**********
(Can I get a witness.)

  1. Dale had an anchor keeping him upright, and that was his wife…She would be there, like a steadfast Rock, at every Page HS home game…She was Dale’s support system, and his wife deserves a ton of credit too, for being there for Dale, all of those years/all those games….A shoutout to her!!!

  2. Ok I am obviously not a Page fan but I always enjoyed the enthusiastic way he announced games. He will be missed.
