Southern Guilford High School names Darius Robinson their new Head Football Coach

Southern Guilford High School is pleased to announce that Darius Robinson has been named as the new Head Football Coach of the Storm. Coach Robinson is a native of Lancaster, South Carolina and a graduate of Lancaster High School. After graduation, Coach Robinson attended Johnson C. Smith University where he was a four-year starter and a three-year team captain. Coach Robinson graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a degree in Sports Management/Physical Education.

Coach Robinson brings over 9 years of coaching experience to this position. Most recently, Coach Robinson served as the Head Football Coach and Head Strength and Conditioning coach at Jay M. Robinson High School in Concord, NC. During his tenure, Coach Robinson led the Bulldogs to a three-year record of 25-7 that included back to back conference championships and back to back 10-win seasons. In addition, the Bulldogs made three straight appearances in the NCHSAA playoffs during this time.

Prior to assuming the head coaching duties at Jay M. Robinson, Coach Robinson served as the Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord. Additionally, he served as Defensive Coordinator at Blythewood High School, Defensive Coordinator at Hickory Ridge High School, and as a position coach at both Phillip O Berry High School and Ashbrook High School.

Coach Robinson brings with him a record of solid achievement both on and off the field. He looks to continue to build upon the past successes of the Storm football program and has high expectations for our athletes academically. Coach Robinson supports a well-rounded approach to discipline to ensure expectations are met both on and off the field.

Coach Robinson will assume spring duties immediately and then progress into summer workouts prior to the start of the 2023 season in August. On behalf of our community, school, and administration – we are excited to welcome Coach Robinson to Southern Guilford High School.
