Thursday night saw the Greensboro Grasshoppers with 15 runs, on 15 hits, with those 15 hits including Two Home Runs, Three Triples, and Four Doubles…

The Hoppers’ Ernny Ordonez had Three Doubles and a Home Run, plus he scored three runs, and he had 5 RBI, while having a perfect night at the plate, going 5-5…Abrahan Gutierrez homered and he scored three runs, and drove in four runs…Gutierrez was 3-5 at the plate…Jase Bowen and Tsung-Che Cheng both tripled, plus Bowen was 2-4/BB/3 Runs, and 2 RBI…Cheng went 2-6/2 Runs/RBI…With Ordonez, Gutierrez, Bowen, and Cheng, they had 12 of the Hoppers’ 15 hits…Catcher Wyatt Hendrie also Tripled for Greensboro, joining Bowen and Cheng in the Tripler’s Circle…

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 15-6, in the third game of its away series on Thursday, June 1. The Grasshoppers improved to 25-21 on the season while the Dash fell to 26-20. Greensboro outhit Winston-Salem 15-7 for a mishap-free game.

Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was infielder Ernny Ordonez as he went 5-5 with a home run, a double, five RBI, and three runs scored. Following behind was Tsung-Che Cheng and Jase Bown. Cheng went 2-6 with one RBI and two runs scored while Bowen went 2-4 with two RBI, three runs scored, and one free base.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was right handed pitcher Bubba Chandler as he recorded six strikeouts and gave up four hits, three earned runs, and three free bases on four innings of work. Logan Hofmann took his first win for the Grasshoppers in one inning of work with one strikeout.

Kohl Simas took the loss for the Dash and moved to 4-2 on the season.

Winston-Salem Falls in Game Three, 15-6
Dash club two home runs in loss

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem Dash dropped game three of the “Battle of I-40” against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 15-6, Thursday night at Truist Stadium in front of 3,777 fans.

Greensboro (25-21) scored early and often, plating eight runs over the first two innings.

Following a two-run third by Winston-Salem (26-20) after a Loidel Chapelli two-RBI double, the Grasshoppers responded with three runs in the top of the fourth, holding an 11-2 lead.

The Dash pushed a run across in the bottom of the fourth cutting the deficit back to eight, 11-3, but Greensboro got the run right back in the fifth.

Winston-Salem showed signs of life in the bottom of the six. Shawn Goosenberg smacked his third home run of the year to the berm in left, followed up by Keegan Fish launching his first long ball of the year to straightaway right, making it 12-5.

Dash pitching held the Grasshoppers scoreless over the next two frames, but the offense only mustered up one more run on the night. The visitors put the finishing touches on the Dash adding three runs in the ninth taking a 15-6 win in game three.

Kohl Simas (4-2) was tabbed with the loss after lasting only 1.2 innings in the start. Logan Hofmann (1-0) picked up the win throwing two innings in relief.

The “Battle of I-40” between Winston-Salem and Greensboro continues Friday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. from Truist Stadium.

  1. From what we are hearing this morning, Coach Fancourt will be staying at Page, but will no longer be coaching at Page HS…Should have more details later on today…

  2. After further review/study, Coach Fancourt would be leaving Page HS, but not for another school….
