Mariners’ Devin Sweet(Southeast Guilford High School): Selected to roster

The Mariners purchased Sweet’s contract from Double-A Arkansas on Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Sweet earned the promotion after collecting a 1.54 ERA and 47:8 K:BB over 35 innings at Arkansas. The 26-year-old will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.

Devin Sweet for the Seattle Mariners worked one inning vs. the Minnesota Twins, late Wednesday night…..
It was a 6-3 final as the Twins win it, and Devin worked the ninth inning for the Mariners, where he gave up two runs, on one hit, with a walk and no strikeouts, plus the one hit he allowed was a two-run home run…Sweet has made it to the show, and he was in Greensboro, just a couple of seasons back, pitching for the West Virginia Power, when they faced the Greensboro Grasshoppers, at First National Bank Field…We interviewed Devin on that day, and he had some great things to say…Now in his own way, and he is saying, “MLB, in 2023, that’s Me”!!!!!!!!!! Devin Sweet, from SEG/Southeast Guilford High School, home of the Falcons…

Back in the day Terry Clapp, from Southeast Guilford made to the Orioles Triple A team, Josh Tobias was up at the Red Sox Double A team/Portland SeaDogs, and Blake Butler from SEG, was at the High A level of professional baseball/Daytona Tortugas in Florida State League, but now here we have Devin Sweet, and he has made it all the way to “The Top”….
