UNCG Baseball to Open Road Slate With Big South Opponents
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will compete in its first set of road contests this week by facing High Point on Tuesday, March 5 at 4 p.m. and Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, March 6 at 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
The Spartans most recently went 2-1 in their series against Canisius at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
Matt Venuto recorded a total of three runs, six hits, three RBI, one double and two walks in his 10 at bats for the Spartans in the series. At first base, Venuto contributed to 25 putouts.
In his first win of the season, Miller recorded a career high eight strikeouts in just four innings of action in the team’s 18-12 win over Canisius Saturday night.

Caleb Cozart was named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week and the Perfect Game Player of the Week after hitting four home runs in the series against Fairfield.
Julien Peissel was selected as the SoCon Pitcher of the Week after starting off on the mound in UNCG’s win over No. 1 Wake Forest.
UNCG was tabbed to finish sixth in the 2024 SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Rob Ready was named to the Preseason All-SoCon second team.
The Spartans finished the 2023 season with a 25-34 overall record and 9-12 in SoCon play to earn the sixth spot in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll. UNCG concluded the season in the semifinal round of the SoCon Tournament, falling to No. 1 Samford, 9-5.
The Spartans welcome 22 newcomers for the 2024 season: 10 transfers and 12 freshmen.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
High Point comes into Tuesday’s contest with a 3-9 overall record.
The Panthers most recently went 1-2 in their weekend series to Dayton at Williard Stadium.
Adam Stuart is 19th nationally with three doubles this season.
Brayden Simpson is seventh nationally, averaging one hit by pitch per game. Simpson paces the Panthers with three home runs this season.
Konni Durschlag is leading the team with a .354 batting average this season. He leads the team with 11 runs and 17 hits.
Simpson and Stuart are leading High Point with 11 RBI apiece.
Gus Hughes stands out on the mound for High Point with 20 strikeouts in his 14.2 innings.
The Panthers earned their first win in program history over an SEC opponent on Friday, Feb. 23 in a 7-3 victory at Ole Miss.

Hughes, Stuart, Brett Ahalt and Cael Chatham were all named to the 2024 Baseball Preseason All-Conference Team.
