That Old Pack Magic is Back Again: Wolfpack Wins in Washington again with N.C. State topping Virginia Cavaliers, 73-65 in OT

Final from the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals in Washington, D.C., where the N.C. State Wolfpack are relevant again…

N.C. State 73, Virginia 65 Overtime
N.C. State goes 14-15 at the free throw line for the game, while the UVA Wahoos went 6-11…
Michael O’Connell banked in a three-point shot for the N.C. State Wolfpack at the end of regulation, as time was expiring, to the tie the score up and send it into Overtime…58-58 going to OT, and State outscored UVA, 15-7 in the extra session to give N.C. State four straight wins this week, as The Pack go into the Championship Game as the #10 seed…

Big man DJ Burns led the Wolfpack in scoring with 19 points, while State got 12 points each from Michael O’Connell and Ben Middlebrooks, plus Casey Morsell added 11 points for the Pack…Mohamed Diarra grabbed 12 huge rebounds and chipped in 9 important Pack points, and don’t forget DJ Horne, as he nailed four straight free throws to seal the deal for N.C. State in crunch time, as the Overtime period went down the stretch…

The North Carolina Tar Heels stopped the Pitt Panthers by almost an identical score, 72-65, in the other semifinal on Friday night…

#10 N.C. State(21-14) vs. #1 North Carolina(27-6) on Saturday night at 9:30pm for the 2024 ACC Tournament Title…

Give/Take us back to the Pack in 1987, when N.C. State last claimed the ACC Tournament Title, and don’t give us 1975, when freshman Phil Ford and the Tar Heels took down the Pack in David Thompson’s senior season…Would like repeats of 1973 and 1974 when State won those back-to-back ACC Tournament Titles, and bring on 1983, back when the Pack had to win the ACC Tournament and they proceeded to win the Tourney, and the Wolfack went on to win the NCAA Title down in Albuquerque, New Mexico…Pack National Champs in Greensboro, in 1974…

For now you ALL must enjoy, The Old Pack Magic, because it is back and rolling again….Time to soak it all in, before the Saturday night finale…Maybe we will see visions of N.C. State vs. Dick Grubar, Larry Miller, Bill Bunting, George Karl, Rusty Clark and others on Saturday night…Or will we see visions of John Roche, Tom Owens, John Ribock, Tom Riker, and Kevin Joyce…Oh yeah, that was the other Carolina, who State beat for the title, 42-39 back in 1970…

At least for one week, and maybe one more night, The Old Pack Magic is back again…I will have my radio tuned in, never got with that Cable stuff, and I still remember driving around town back in 1983, and listening to the games on the AM radio, and State would win them for the fans all over the STATE of North Carolina….

  1. Coach may have cost the team an invite to the NCAA by not using his last 2
timeouts with under ten seconds to play to stop STATE from getting a shot off. . Also one of the poorest shooting teams in the entire NCAA in free throws made– SAD DAY
