Baseball Sweeps The Citadel for Ninth Straight Win
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team swept a second straight series with a 4-1 win at The Citadel in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Sunday afternoon at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
The win extended the Spartans’ season-high winning streak to nine games and marked UNCG’s second SoCon series sweep of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jake Ogden put the Spartans on the board first in the opening inning by hitting his third home run of the series and sixth of the season out to left to make it 1-0.
The Citadel tied it, 1-1, in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Aryan Patel through the left side to score Travis Elliott from second.
The Spartans hung on to win 4-1 after Jacob Dilley hit a two-run double to left-center in the sixth and later scored on a single hit to left by GC Jarman.
NOTES:
Julien Peissel picked up the win to improve to 2-2 in his 11th start of the season. He pitched six innings with one run surrendered on seven hits while striking out one along the way.
Danny Thompson Jr. earned his team-leading fourth save of the season after dealing three scoreless no-hit frames to close it out.
Aidan Brewer and Dilley led UNCG with three hits each.
Dilley led the team with two RBI, while Ogden and Jarman each had one as well.

The Spartans travel to Conway, S.C., next for a midweek non-conference test against Coastal Carolina on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. before returning home to wrap up their SoCon slate against Samford on Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12.
