Southern Conference Announces 2024 Softball Tournament Bracket

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team begins its quest in The 2024 Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament as the No. 2 seed in Greensboro, North Carolina at the UNCG Softball Stadium, hosted by the Spartans.

All eight SoCon teams will participate in the tournament, with seeds 5 and 8 participating in a single-elimination game on Wednesday, May 8, at 10 a.m., and seeds 6 and 7 playing in a single-elimination game later that day at 1 p.m. for the right to advance to the double-elimination portion of the bracket. The championship game will take place Sunday, May 11, at 1 p.m., with a second game, if necessary, to begin 30 minutes after the completion of the first contest.

UNCG (31-24, 13-8) secured the No. 2 seed with a win over Wofford on Saturday. The Spartans come into the tournament lower than the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2016. The Spartans lead the SoCon in runs (276), RBI (263) and home runs (78).

With the No. 2 seed, UNCG earned a bye to Thursday’s action at the tournament and will face either No. 3 seed Samford, No. 6 Furman/No. 7 seed Western Carolina. The Spartans swept Furman on March 29-30, dropped three games to Samford on April 6-7 and took two of three from Western Carolina on April 19-20.
