Two from UNCG Men’s and One from Women’s Cross Country Place Top 50 at Pirate Invitational
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Pirate Cross Country Invitational on Friday morning at Overton Lake Kristi’s.
The Spartan men finished ninth out of 17 teams, totaling 248 points in their first eight-kilometer race. Charleston Southern took home the team title for the men with 75 points. The Spartan women placed 17th overall out of 20 teams with 442 points in their first six-kilometer run, while William & Mary won the team title with 19 points.
MEN
Two Spartans finished in the top 50 out of 176 finishers. Senior Colin Keck led the way for the Blue & Gold taking home 41st overall with a time of 24:59.3. Sophomore Khalid Abdullahi was close behind with his 45th-place finish and time of 25:00.7.
Senior Ethan Long crossed the finish line third for the Spartans, earning 52nd place with a time of 25:06.2. Junior Andrew Hamilton took home 74th place and ran the eight-kilometer race in 25:26.9. Sophomore Tyler Niloff (81st place) and freshman Logan Ruffner (93rd place) rounded out the Spartan runners in the top 100. Niloff ran a time of 25:38.5 and Ruffner finished in 25:48.4.
WOMEN
Junior Vicky Sosa led the way for the Spartans, finishing in 20th place out of 202 competitors. Sosa clocked in a time of 22:23.9. Lillian Douglass (120th place) and Tenley Douglass (121st place) followed each other in the finish. Lillian clocked in a time of 24:01.9 and Tenley ran a time of 24:02.2.
Senior Camille Carlson crossed the finish line close behind, taking home 123rd overall with a time of 24:03.7.

UP NEXT
UNCG is scheduled to send Spartans to the Mountaineer Feud on Friday, Oct. 18 in Boone, North Carolina, at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm. Spartans will also compete on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Panorama Farms Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia, at Panorama Farms.
