We must be living in the “Twlight Zone”, as we look at some of these Friday Football Finish Scores:66-0, 63-0, 54-0, 48-0, 42-0, 41-0, 40-0

You know we must be living in the “Twilight Zone” or someplace close to it, when you look at some of these scores from Week Seven of the High School Football Season, for 2024…

This is almost crazy, when you see and study the looks of these final Friday Night Finishes….
Reidsville 66, McMichael 0
Northern Guilford 63, Southwest Guilford 0
Northeast Guilford 54, High Point Central 0
Grimsley 48, Western Guilford 0
Corvian Community 42, Bishop McGuinness 0
Eastern Guilford 41, Rockingham County 0
West Forsyth 40, Glenn 0

And this is really sort of crazy to see this many lopsided scores at this stage of the season…Into Week Seven of 2024, and teams still getting blown out BAD…Real bad, how some of these things turned out…

And then you had Southeast Guilford slipping past Ragsdale, 36-35…Would to see some of the back-and-forth action and numbers on this game…Dudley rolled by Smith, 49-6, and I was leaning toward sending our man Demetri Morrison to Jamestown, for the Tigers and the SEG Falcons, but we ended up having him go over to the Smith-Dudley game, to catch the tradition and pageantry of the Eagles and the Panthers…Northwest Guilford took down Page, 45-12, and there were some other blowout style games….

Other than that SEG-Ragsdale game, did anybody even come close, to playing a CLOSE Game????? Don’t see many other tight games around here other than some of the some of that Private School Bingo GAMES…We need to keep pushing for our guys to get it all going strong, all night long, in Guilford County….

Get it going like this here…
Here are my picks for this week………(12-0) so far…Who knows???…OUR Friday Football Finish at (12-1)…

Northwest Guilford over Page game saw NWG receiver Rakem Hammock have a huge game, plus Herb McNeal on defense had two Interceptions, while Austin Jackson had an Interception and he was part of blocked punt for NWG…Very large/Extra Large game for NWG’s QB Anders Mitchell…Had some nifty runs, some nice passes and he took some shots for his home team…He had to go to the Sideline Injury Tent, at the end of the game…Hope all is well for him, and you also have to give a nod of approval to the NWG punter and Kickoff Man, Caleb Trogdon…

We started calling him, ‘TB’ Trogdon, after most all of his touchback kicks went into the receiving team’s end zone…NWG’s backup QB, Ferrell Price came in and did everything expected of him, running the offense, running the ball a few times himself, and just overall, staying engaged with the “Viking Process”….Northwest got good balance from their running backs, McKinnly Vance and Nathan Trogdon…Northwest also got a couple of key receptions from Quincy Bell Jr. He held down the wideout spot, and did a very good job of hauling in some very key passes for the Vikes…

But the kid from Northwest Guilford that deserves a Player of the Year vote after the Homecoming Game for 2024, at the R.L. Billings Stadium, on the Northwest Guilford High School campus, is none other than the “Big Man on Campus”, and the big man every time he comes walking down your street, and that would be, defensive lineman, Joshua Purkett…Josh goes 5/11/305, and this young man is a Mountain disguised as a man….My how big your teeth are now…Josh Purkett, helped us haul our equipment into the stadium, before the game, and we had to do some walking and some talking before we could find our spot at the Upper Gate…

The Page Pirates have some talented receivers which I saw never all of them, but with what saw, these young kids are going to very good in just a couple of years…Kasai Poindexter, Marqui Lynch, Zion Malloy, the QB Williamson, these young fellas who a future in Red, Silver, and White, and these kids will become your every Friday night pass catchers for the next several years to come..

Next week, for Northwest Guilford and Page as follows….
Northern Guilford(6-0/3-0) at Northwest Guilford(5-1/2-1)
Western Guilford(4-2/2-2) at Grimsley(6-0/3-0)

from our Western Guilford crew on last night’s Hornets’ battle with the Metro 4-A power, Grimsley:
Another great Friday night for High School Football!! WG looking to Swarm vs the Whirles. Whirles strike fast and swift taking a commanding lead in the 1st 28-0. The Hornets were smothered all night on Offense by the Defense of Grimsley. At halftime the score 48-0 and it would stay that way as the Grimsley wins 48-0. The Hornets fall to 4-2 on the season.

**********Note: The air was sucked out the stadium late in the game with WG Tim Baker Jr suffering a tough injury knocking him out the game. Hope the young leader is ok and rebounds from the injury.**********

  1. I think after Pages first two drives they decided to come out guns ablazin and let the young QB sling it and just kinda go for it. It didn’t work well, but it was a good teaching tool and allows for a good learning opportunity. Hats off to NWs secondary for making the proper plays in those situations.

  2. No Twlight zone just weak conferences. It’s been getting worse year after year.

  3. NWG deep coverage with Herb McNeal and also Austin Jackson very strong, and just strong all the way around back in the secondary for NWG…Page with big test this coming Friday with Western Guilford coming to Marion Kirby Stadium….Must-Win for both teams, WG and Page…
