Dudley Rushes Past Western Guilford, Stays Perfect in Metro 6A/7A

The Dudley Panthers continued their winning ways and maintained a perfect record in the Metro 6A/7A Conference, dominating the Western Guilford Hornets on the road with a decisive 41-3 victory Friday night at Doug Henderson Stadium.
The Panthers (4-0 Metro 6A/7A), winners of five straight, relied heavily on their powerful ground game, scoring six rushing touchdowns on six consecutive scoring drives to run away from the Hornets.
After the Hornets’ opening drive ended in a fumble recovered by Dudley, the Panthers took a 7-0 lead on a four-yard run by Michael Boone Jr.
The game took a difficult turn for Western Guilford (5-3, 3-2 Metro 6A/7A) midway through the first quarter. On the ensuing possession, the Hornets marched deep into Dudley territory, but the drive was marred by an injury to outstanding quarterback Caleb Moore. Moore was hit while throwing and immediately went down in pain, his right arm stabilized by trainers and coaches before he was escorted to the locker room. He did not return to the game.
Western Guilford was able to salvage points on the drive, with Abisai Carmona-Rosales connecting on a 35-yard field goal to make the score 7-3 as the first quarter came to a close.
With backup quarterback Jermiah Dotson at the helm, the Hornets’ offense struggled to find traction against the physical Dudley defense led by Coach Steven Davis.
The Panthers quickly extended their lead in the second quarter. Quarterback Brayden Jeffries capped an 81-yard drive with a 34-yard touchdown run. After a Western Guilford three-and-out, Michael Boone Jr. scored his second touchdown of the game from eight yards out to make it 20-3. Boone (who rushed for over 125 yards in the game) wasn’t done yet, needing only one play on Dudley’s next possession to break free for a 36-yard score, his third rushing touchdown of the half, putting the Panthers up 26-3 heading into the break.
Receiving the second half kickoff, Dudley continued their relentless ground attack. Christian Ford found the end zone from 28 yards away to push the lead to 34-3. As the third quarter wound down, the Panthers sealed the victory after a 95-yard drive was finished off by Brayden Jeffries’ second rushing touchdown, a four-yard plunge, making the final score 41-3.
Dudley’s ground game was unstoppable, tallying a rushing touchdown on six straight possessions. Western Guilford, with back-up quarterback Dalton, struggled to move the ball consistently after the loss of Moore. With the passing game now limited the Dudley defense loaded the box and running backs CJ Blevins and Tim Baker could never break free. Hopefully we get an update soon on Moore’s condition.
The Panthers remain undefeated in conference play, while the Hornets will look to regroup during their bye next week.
Western offense did move the ball against Dudley defense , but not enough to score or win.
