High School Football Friday Night Finish with Northeast Guilford Rams enjoying Homecoming and Prayers going up for Southeast Guilford Falcon, Josiah Gary(UPDATE)

In what could well be the last game played at the Bill Bookout Stadium, the Northeast Guilford Rams were victorious over the Southeast Guilford Falcons, 28-7…This nearly shocked me…Got what we did not expect to see…
(BIG Homecoming Victory for NEG.)

Was looking for Southeast Guilford to be able to run that football with Caleb Jackson, Travis Motley, and Joshua Hatten-Williams, but that did not happen…Well after Northeast took a 28-0 lead, Southeast got a nice chunk run from Hatten-Williams and he took it all the way to the end zone from 65 yards out, and SEG was able to break up the NEG shutout, but that is about all it did…

The Northeast Guilford Defense is for REAL, and Southeast Guilford found that out the hard way…NEG shut down the Southeast running attack for the most part, in this contest..SEG did score on that long run in the fourth quarter, but by then, Northeast was up by 28 points…

NEG and their “D” lead by Jacen Hester, Dre Deese, Zayvion Mixon, Shelton Moss, Aaryn Tate, Damir Woolridge, and all of those guys are on the second and third tier of the NEG Defense, and you had Suleiman Solongo, Jontelle Spencer, and BIG Antonio Escobar up front on the D-line setting the tone for the NEG Defense, and getting the job done…

Special Teams and Turnover loomed very large in this key conference contest…NEG scored off of a Jacen Hester Pick Six for the touchdown and the Rams also scored on a 55-yard punt return by NEG’s Eli Little….NEG kicker Devon Ramey was 4-4, and money on all of his PAT Kicks…

If the overall story, and if the overall Truth be told, Northeast Guilford was playing “Lights Out” Defense…Their defense has shown brightly over the past two key conference football games…

NEG picked up good ground yardage from a number of different running backs…We saw Elijah Jones, Amarhie Glover, and Christian Smith all get a good crack at playing as the NEG main running back…

Northeast Guilford QB Zorian Campbell connected with BraVon Canty for an 18-yard TD pass, that was NEG’s first touchdown of the game…

One of the major story lines of this game came with just around 4:47 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter…Southeast Guilford’s Josiah Gary was injured while on Defense for the SEG Falcons…Gary is a junior LB, backup offensive lineman, and Long Snapper for the SEG Falcons…When Josiah Gary went down with his injury, it looked bad from the start…The game was stopped and on-site medical personnel, along with coaches, trainers, and other attendants all were huddled around Josiah Gary, hoping that he would start moving again, and that he would be OK…

The local Northeast Guilford Fire Department showed up in very large numbers, to offer any assistance that they could for the fallen warrior, Josiah Gary…The Emergency Medical Technicians arrived about 35 minutes after the incident/accident, occurred…The EMT truck from over around Moses Cone Hospital responded to the scene/call at the Bill Bookout Stadium, within just few minutes…

We spoke with Southeast Guilford Falcons’ head football coach, Earl Bates in the late night hours, and Coach Bates said that Gary was at the hospital, and they were running tests on him…Hoping and Praying that Josiah Gary can get going again, real soon….The medical attendees made sure that they got Josiah Gary on a straight board/back board so he could be placed on the stretcher, and then be wheeled to the EMT vehicle…

AGAIN, as big as we can get them moving, and going up…Our prayers, going up Tonight, for Josiah Gary, and what was a very scary situation right near the 50-yard line, at Bill Bookout Stadium, and I wonder what will happen next, but here’s hoping all will turn out for the good, for Josiah Gary at the hospital…..Got to keep on lifting up and praying that, Josiah Gary will have a speedy recovery period….

Do the same for him/Josiah, and for the Southeast Guilford Football Community, Let’s LIFT UP Josiah Gary, and pray that he has a Full Recovery, and that he has no Major Complications…Looked like it was all about his neck and back area, and that is why that Straight Board brought in by the recovery team, was SOOOOOOOO Important….
**********This update on Josiah Gary’s condition coming in on Saturday afternoon:The young man from Southeast Guilford, Josiah Gary, who was injured last night in the game at Northeast Guilford is home resting, with NO major injuries…Good news coming in this afternoon from SEG Falcons’ head coach Earl Bates…Continue to keep this young man in your prayers…**********

The last part of the game was finished, as they were wheeling Josiah along the track, and to the EMT truck, and nothing miraculous took place over the last Four Minutes and Forty-Seven seconds of this contest…

The ballgame per say, was over in the First Quarter…NEG found a way to score, and SEG could not get their ground game going, and therefore the Falcons could not find a way to score….

Northeast Guilford got on the scoreboard with 5:35 left to play in the First Quarter, when BraVon Canty took an 18 yard pass over the top of his defender, and it was a nice pass to right corner of the end zone, and Canty hauled in that pass from NEG QB, the left-hander, NEG TD from NEG QB Zorian Campbell….The Devon Ramey kick was Good, and the score becomes, Northeast Guilford 7, Southeast Guilford 0NEG 14, SEG 0

Halftime Score:NEG 14, SEG 0

With just 33 seconds left in the Third Quarter, NEG goes for TD, Number Three…And they get it on a Four-Yard Run by SEG freshman RB, Christian Smith…Smith at 5’11/210 pounds, and just a Ninth-Grader…Good Future ahead for him…Smith with a strong run off of the left side of the NEG O-line, and the PAT Kick from Devon Ramey is Good Again…And that new score, with just 33 seconds left in the Third Quarter, is Northeast Guilford 21, Southeast Guilford 0

End of Third Quarter:NEG 21, SEG 0

Then with 11:50 remaining the Fourth Quarter, NEG gets its Fourth Touchdown of the night, when Jacen Hester picks off a Phoenix Fleming pass, and then Hester races 35 yards to the opposite end zone for a very special Pick Six…
NEG scores off of a miscue from SEG and now the NEG Rams lead the Southeast Guilford Falcons, 28-0…Twenty-Eight to Zip…Wow, never thought I would dream that I would be calling out those type of numbers this season vs. the
SEG Falcons…I have a lot of respect for that SEG team, and never thought they would be trailing 28-0, at this stage of the contest…BTW, the Kick from Devon Ramey was good, most of his work is getting great reviews on this night…New Score again, Northeast Guilford 28, Southeast Guilford 0….

Southeast Guilford finally gets the play that the Falcons have been looking for, and it comes in the Fourth Quarter of our ballgame…SEG’s Joshua Hatten-Williams goes 65 yards for a SEG Touchdown, and the Jaxson Kinderman Kick is Good and with that SEG TD, our new score becomes, Northeast Guilford 28, Southeast Guilford 7

And that becomes our Final Score:Northeast Guilford 28, Southeast Guilford 7…..

NEG(6-2/2-1)…SEG(5-3/2-1)
