UNCG Students Fight Stress, Barnyard Style

Barnyard Bash brings the farm to campus on Saturday, Nov. 15

GREENSBORO, NC – The end of the semester can be a stressful time for UNC Greensboro students: exams, FAFSA deadlines, holiday travel, and possibly even commencement? can add layers of pressure to an already fraught time of year.

So, on Saturday, Nov. 15, UNCG Activities and Campus Events presents the Barnyard Bash, an afternoon opportunity to decompress on Stone Lawn with a menagerie of farm animals.

There will be goats. There will be cows. There may even be chickens. And they’re all coming to campus for the sole purpose of engaging Spartans during the most stressful time of the semester.

Studies show that interacting with animals reduces stress by lowering the body’s levels of cortisol and increasing oxytocin.

On Stone Lawn, students are invited to interact with the animals, eat donuts and sip hot or cold drinks from the Magnolia’s Café food truck while forgetting, even for just an hour or two, the pressing responsibilities at the end of the fall semester.
