The Hickory Crawdads made it nine straight wins overall tonight, and they picked up their third consecutive win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers…For the Hoppers they picked up just two hits, but they did draw six walks…Greensboro’s Jackson Glenn went 1-4, and Wyatt Hendrie was 1-3…Jase Bowen and Maikol Escotto both walked twice, while Mike Jarvis and Hendrie each drew a walk…No extra-base hits for the Hoppers, on this night…
While we are on the subject of streaks, the Greensboro Grasshoppers have now lost four games in a-row, going back to last Sunday’s 11-6 loss to the Winston-Salem Dash…
On Thursday night, the Hickory Crawdads’ catcher Tucker Mitchell went 2-4/HR/Run/RBI…Big home run from Mitchell, and it was a solo shot, coming in the third inning…’Dads third baseman Cody Freeman was 2-4/Double/2 Runs…Hickory’s DH Yosy Galan was also big for the Crawdads, going 2-4/Double/Run/3 RBI…
The Greensboro Grasshoppers’ starting pitcher Jaycob Deese took the loss, and Deese worked three innings, allowing two runs on four hits, with a BB/3 K’s, and he gave up one home run, and that was the shot by Mitchell…First mate reliever Valentin Linarez took over for Deese, and Linarez goes 2 2/3’s innings, giving up four runs, on four hits, with 1 BB/4 K’s…The Hoppers finishing pitcher, Dante Medoza was in there for one inning, giving up one run, on two hits, with 0 BB/1 K…The fourth Hopper pitcher of the night was Santiago Florez, and his night was 1 1/3 innings, with 0 Runs, 0 Hits, 0 BB’S/2 K…Hoppers pitching had another tough night, but with the Hops run support missing, it makes it hard to scratch out a victory…

Crawdads 2-Hit Hoppers in Win
‘Dads Take Game 3 Against Greensboro 7-0
Hickory, NC- The Crawdads kept their win streak going on Thursday night with a 7-0 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers, their ninth straight victory.
The ‘Dads struck first, getting a run in the second inning. Cody Freeman singled and took third on a single by Geisel Cepeda. Yosy Galan grounded into a double play, scoring Freeman.
Tucker Mitchell added a homerun to make it a 2-0 ballgame.
The Crawdads rallied again in the sixth, getting four more across. Singles by Mitchell and Abimelec Ortiz and a walk by Geisel Cepeda loaded the bases. Galan slapped a ball to left, bringing in two. Daniel Mateo reached on a fielding error by the catcher that loaded the bases. Frainyer Chavez collected a base hit to center to score two more and push the lead to six.
They capped off the scoring with a another run in the eighth. Cody Freeman doubled to lead off the inning, moved to third on a ground out by Cepeda and scored on a double off the wall by Galan.
Crawdads pitchers held Greensboro to two hits for the second straight night. Larson Kindreich got the start, going five frames with one hit, three walks, and eight strikeouts. Jackson Kelley took over for the sixth and seventh innings without allowing a hit but walking three. Yohanse Morel allowed a hit in the eighth before turning the ball over to Gavin Collyer, who closed the game out with a 1-2-3 inning.
The Crawdads will try to stretch their win streak to 10 tomorrow night with Hoedown Throwdown and post-game fireworks by Pepsi and Big Dawg 92.1.
