Still waiting to get in all the details, but former Page Pirates WR Diondre Overton was shot and killed last night….He was at a house party, where a fight broke out, and in the process of trying to break up the fight, he was shot in the chest, and he died due to his injuries…
From WFMY TV 2 reports:At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, deputies said they responded to a call about a loud house party and noise disturbance at 3205 Spring Mill Rd.(In Greensboro)
Diondre Overton, wide receiver for the Page Pirates football team and a small forward on the Page basketball team is gone…He came to Page from Southeast Guilford High School and after Page HS, Diondre went on to play and excel as WR for the Clemson Tigers…He was currently on the roster for the Memphis Showboats of the UFL…
He was a good young man, who got caught up last night, in the line of fire, as he was trying to defuse a bad situation….Liked talking with, and seeing Diondre over the years, and my first impression of him was a grin on his face, and letting out a laugh or two…But, this is no laughing matter now….We have to find some way to, “Stop The Violence”…..

More than a dozen comments on the Page football coaching staff, but only one on the death of a great former Pirate. That’s Greensboro in a nutshell.

I hope this doesn’t turn into another case of “I didn’t see nothing”. At this point A LOT of people know what happened. Hopefully there is an arrest soon.
Same goes for the Page football player that was killed a few years back. No arrest, but MANY people know who did it.
People have to step up and get justice for these young men.
