The Reidsville Rams returned to their usual playoff ways with a win over Red Springs, to the tune of a 44-0 shutout.
In their last playoff game, in mid-November of 2024, they lost to a 17 seed in the Round of 32, so the nervous feeling around the game was for a reason. However, the Round of 32 is much easier to achieve with 8 classifications than with 4, so the big win makes sense.
The Rams wasted no time going on top, scoring three touchdowns in the first and never letting their foot off the gas pedal. That allows them to look ahead to 9-seeded Eastern Wayne, who destroyed 9 Southwestern Randolph, 49-0. Eastern Wayne will make the two hour drive to face Reidsville as the ‘Ville looks to advance to the state quarterfinals in the 4A.
Around the rest of the Mid-State, Carver was eliminated as the 13 seed by 4-seeded Central Davidson, 49-8. Meanwhile, 6-seeded Walkertown demolished 22 Wheatmore, 67-0, to move on to the third round of the 3A Bracket.
On Thursday, the Rockingham County Preview will be published with a look-ahead to Reidsville’s Round of 16 bout with Eastern Wayne.
