Kernersville Bulldog Ace Earns CVCL’s Top Pitching Honor The Carolina Virginia Collegiate League has announced in postseason awards and a member of the Kernersville Bulldogs took home the league’s top pitching honor. Kernersville Bulldog ace, and GTCC right-hander Tanner Routh was named the 2017 CVCL Pitcher of the Year. Routh was outstanding all season long for Kernersville, the fifteenth ranked team in the country and CVCL regular season and tournament champions. The Kernersville Bulldogs were rained out in their final regular season contest Saturday thus finished 43-7 this season. Currently the Bulldogs are the number 14 team Nationally in the latest Collegiate Summer Baseball Poll. The regular season champions will now try to capture the post season tournament at Moor Park in Mooresville starting Friday Morning at 11AM. The top seeded Bulldogs drew a first round bye and will play the winner of Carolina Pirates and the Charlotte Crushers game that will be played Thursday. The CVCL tournament will conclude Sunday afternoon.

The Carolina Virginia Collegiate League All Star game was rained out Saturday night at Lenoir Rhyne University. The players completed their pro work outs, but the school deemed the field unplayable then the pitchers got to throw a bullpen for the scouts. “It wasn’t a total loss but our players looked so good during the workout. Kernersville split league games on the road in Roanoke Virginia winning the first game 4-0 the losing a 3-2 extra inning affair in game two. Kernersville had a 7-2 week and dropped one spot down to 24 in the latest national poll. Kernersville did takeover as the winningest team in the country overtaking the Top Speed Club that has 26 wins but is undefeated and moved up to number three in the rankings from the Golden State League.
