Kernersville Bulldogs pull off big upset and now will play for the CVCL Tournament Title:’Dogs vs. Fuquay-Varina on Saturday in Roanoke, Virginia

The Kernersville Bulldogs defeated the defending Carolina Virginia Collegiate League Champions Fungo of Raleigh 8-6 to advance to Roanoke, Va’s CVCL championship 2-of-3 series finals against the Fuquay Varina Twins. The first two games will be played at Kiwanis Park starting at 2 PM Saturday. Summer Collegiate Baseball:Kernersville Bulldogs open season with four key wins over weekend

The Kernersville Bulldogs opened their 2017 Carolina Virginia Collegiate League season with four key league wins. On Saturday GTCC Tanner Routh dominated hurling five shutout inning fanning eight and allowing only three hits in picking up the win in his first action of the year. The Kernersville Bulldogs’ Chris Corbett and Pitcher Duncan Everett were selected to this weekend’s Carolina Virginia Collegiate League All Tourney Team. Corbett had three key hits and was an iron man behind the plate in handling the Bulldog Pitching staff. Everrett hurled a complete game two hitter while fanning 13 batters. The Carolina Virginia Collegiate League tourney in Mooresville , NC was rained out Friday and with bad field conditions the tournament has been shortened to a to single elimination. Kernersville will still have to win two on Saturday to advance to title game Sunday at 5PM.
